'I Saw Beyond Death' Poem by Younus Ahmed

'I Saw Beyond Death'

In midnight's hold, a deep and dreamless sleep,
'I woke in my soul and saw my body on the bed.'
A silent form in slumber, buried deep,
A hollow shell where once my soul was led.
I called, but sound no human ear could hear,

Run through the wall with rising, wordless dread.
Then suddenly move away to a celestial land.
A garden bathed in light, a second sphere,
With grass like emerald waves, and flowers tall,

In brilliant hues that banished every fear,
Their perfumed heads so beautiful and all.
Then One appeared, His presence calm and clear,
And on the sky, He made a screen unfold.
There, all my life from birth to twenty-one,

Each action shown, both good and ill, was spun.
Then said.'Your time has not yet come'
I woke, the vision fading with the morn,
My second life, within this flesh, reborn
