I Saw My Sunset Tonight Poem by Leaking Pen

I Saw My Sunset Tonight

I saw my sunset tonight
At the edge of my dreams
Burnt red amber reflecting
The passions from my heart
I wait with anticipation
The rise of my better half
In the horizon not too far behind.
She is shy, shows herself at dusk
In shades of yellow and soft amber
She gets her smile when she reflects my light
I know she is over there tracing my steps
A slimmer shade of herself
She gives herself to my yearning heart
Erupting in full blossom
And on my trail tries to catch up with me
My love is sure of herself
She is the harvest moon
For she has plucked my heart and collected my feelings
In the reflection of her image
I wait patiently for her to catch up with me
For true love is never demanding or controlling
I will circle the earth again one more time
And clear a path for my love to follow
For I know I travel the same destination
As my beloved did the night before
One day our path will intersect
Her lunar eclipse tames my flame
We celebrate meeting of our shadows
I take her heart as my own
We embrace as we say goodbye
And wait for next cycle to begin again
For to truly love is to know when to let go
And allow space to breathe in between
In the depth of each of our space
Grow the seeds of understanding
And in the spirit of freedom
Love regenerates itself,
.
