I Stayed Poem by manda dutson

I Stayed

Rating: 4.5

I stayed
Behind blind eyes
A prison cell for one
And sometimes many

I stayed
In the name of love
Pretending often
But not often enough

I stayed
Needing protection
protecting myself
But finding no one

I stayed
The sex was good
The abuse was better
And all that I knew

I stayed
Blaming the past
Hating the present
Fearing the future

But still...
I stayed
