I The Tree Poem by Velma Joy Stoffel

I The Tree

Rating: 5.0

I’m tall, I’m graceful, I’m willowy of course you know; I’m a beautiful tree.

God made me, to look this way to stand straight and tall, day after day.

In seasons my beauty will grow, from early spring, till the very first snow.

In fall my colors you’ll love to see. My leaves all red, orange and yellow be.

In winter, I rest in a peaceful sleep, the snow on the ground is drifting deep. The winds rage around me, the cold engulfs every tree.

The spring showers bring new life to me. My sap flows lively and free.

My blossoms are fragrant, the smell is superb. My branches are strong, my leaves disturbed.

My roots go deep, to drink from the earth for I have stood here since the day of my birth.

Sun by day and moon by night; I’m always one of the beautiful sights.

Birds nest in my branches on high there they live and teach their babies to fly.

My wood makes your homes and warms them too. I protect the land, I protect you.

People cut, waste and burn me down. I weep, I pain, I hurt without sound.

I the tree live on and on, from one generation to another. I grow strong with nature each passing day, and pray to god, it will always be this way.
