I Think I Made You Up Poem by Kevin Tate

I Think I Made You Up

I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again instead
(I think I made you up inside my head)

The stars are out in blue and red,
And blackness gallops in
I shut my eyes and all the world stops dead.
(I think I made you up inside my head)

You bewitched me when you took me inside
Your passion unrestrained as tangled as the sheets
Upon the bed
(I think I made you up inside my head)

I fancied you'd return the way you said,
But I grow old and now forget your name….
(I think I made you up inside my head)

For love is stupid and love is blind
a figment of a fragmented mind
it fools no one.
(I think I made you up inside my head)

So delete the love letters
The photographs, those desperate notes,
And burn your own image from her mind
Sit and feast upon your life.
I didn't fall in love. I fell through time.
