I’ve Turned My Back Poem by Michael P. Johnson

I’ve Turned My Back

Upon my knees I’m crying Lord
Please bring me back to you
No longer can my soul afford
Doing the things I do

I know you’ve heard it all before
Its not my first time here
But hear my knocking at Your door
Plagued with dreadful fear

You see my heart repentant soul
You know the way I feel
I know through sin I’ve failed my goal
And death is all too real

I’ve learned my lesson seen my wrong
I’ve watched the devil smile
I’m here to sing Your righteous song
And walk the extra mile

Forgive my God the wrongs I’ve done
Allow me in Your sight
Through strength of Jesus Christ Your Son
Allow me put things right

I’ve failed my God don’t let me fall
Don’t let me walk away
To You, from now I’ll give my all
And never more will stray

I walked the way of flesh and bone
Thinking my sin was good
But when my heart grew cold as stone
I knew and understood

On leaving loose the devil’s hand
I turned my back on sin
I’m here because I understand
Allow me please back in
