I Want To Know Why Poem by Rik Bertrand

I Want To Know Why

Life has a way of turning,
A way of burning.
Life has a way of doing us wrong,
Always playing that very sad song.

Why do the good pay for the bad
Why do we always have to be sad?
Who makes these bad premonitions?
Who is deciding our life's missions?

Love can be so hard to find
But we will find it in time
Sometimes they block the door
But we know life is worth fighting for.

Why is the Devil always so near?
Why is it we have reason to fear?
Who decides if we live or we die?
Who is it that we see, but deny?

We are Strong and we fight hard,
There is no life that we shall discard.
The unfaithful try to take our weak
It is not the love of God they seek.

Why are there so many Bad?
Why are there so many Mad?
Why don't we all just love one another?
Like a Mother loves her new born Daughter.

So many questions, with no relief.
So many answers, with no belief.
So many rights and so many wrongs,
Not enough rightful living, not enough Love songs.

REB (FEB 2012) Because I want to know why
