I Want To Play Guitar (But I Keep Falling Asleep) - Poem by Ralph R. Risoli

I want to play guitar, but
I keep falling asleep.
And when I open my eyes to begin,
I just keep falling asleep, falling asleep.

I dream of those sweet nights
When I practice playing, and the days.
And all the time I'm sleeping,
But I still remain,
Falling asleep, falling asleep.

Oh, I just remembered
Have to finish that song,
This time it's not Mozart, Beethoven
But something of my own,
And I am falling asleep.

And when the evening's end
I've played it all in my head,
Twenty new songs or more,
And still, I snore-
For I'm still falling asleep.
