I Want You To Poem by Shreya Pasari

I Want You To

I want you to watch my favourite movies,
so that you recollect my expressions I used to have while watching them.
I want you to listen to my favourite songs,
so that when you close your eyes, it's my humming you're listening to.
I want you to read my favourite passages of books again and again,
so that you can remember me whispering the lines with a muted smile.
I want you to drink coffee just the way I like it,
so that you understand why I couldn't live without it.
I want you to walk through my favourite trails,
so that you re-imagine me speaking those quirky quotes with a goofy face.
I want you to watch my favourite episodes of the shows I love,
so that you speak out loud the exact dialogues that I used to repeat.
I want you to eat my favourite dishes with the exact spices and exact proportions,
so that you remember the food-fights we used to have about the portions.
I want you to read all our old chats, messages and conversations,
so that you remember how and when we fell for each other.
I want you to make a list of all our firsts,
so that you have a serene smile on your lips reminiscing them.
I want you to talk endlessly about me to your friends and family,
so that you relive our shared moments through your stories.
I want you to pine for me
so that your every waking thought would be about me.
I want you to physically reach out for me
every time you thought you saw a girl who looks like me.
I want your heart to skip a beat
every time you're reminded of my hugs, kisses and whispered sweet nothings.
I want you to cry out my name
when you're too busy to remember that I'm no longer around you now.
I want you to go through all our fights and arguments,
to know exactly since when we started to fall apart.
I want you to fight for me just one last time,
even though you know it's too late for us.
Because I do all these things thinking about you,
Only to realize that now it's just in my memories where you will look at me with love;
and fear that you might lose me if you don't hold me close enough.
Because our fears have come true and we're no longer there for each other during our weakest moments and our strongest points.
We have now grown apart even though there's still a part
that always wishes to stay together forever.
