I Wanted To Be A........ Poem by Daljeet Narang

I Wanted To Be A........

As a child, I wanted to be a singer
but when I sang with the school choir
I smiled when I sang.
For this, the Teacher threw me out...
So, I dropped the idea of singing.
I stopped singing ever after

As a teenager, I wanted to be a dancer
I danced from my heart
but when I danced, people made fun of my immature talent.
So, I dropped the idea of dancing...
I stopped dancing ever after.

As an adult in college, I wanted to be an orator like many others.
I sat down almost an entire night to pen a speech to mark the republic day celebrations.
The teacher approved of it
but without my knowledge passed it to one of her favorites to deliver it.
I felt dismantled and bitter...
So, I dropped the idea of ever becoming an orator.

After college, I became a teacher
I taught from my heart,
Yet I lost my job.
I was made to pay for someone else's default.
But, I didn't stop teaching...
I did not have income for investment in a business.
So, I started a small venture at home.
Gradually, without any advertisement,
Just the word of mouth spread......
I had managed to establish my own coaching center,
where I taught people
not to fail even when they faced failures in any form -
be it people or circumstances.
