I Was Carried By A Child

As a man I see the trials and tribulations life can bring,
And hopelessness, and grief can overwhelm the strongest thing,
But every time I lose control, and broken thoughts run wild,
A calm replaces all my fear, for I am carried by a child...

The child's name I did not know, but knew the face so well,
But from His eyes shone wisdom, it was then that I could tell,
I was carried by a child, and I knew He was the One,
Everywhere He traveled He was followed by the sun...

We went to lands, where people didn't have the same belief,
Refused to let the truth rush in, and give them sweet relief,
Some stayed to listen, hoping just to ease the helpless cries,
The stories soft and comforting, and truth came from His eyes...

The people soon surrounded Him, As faith began to grow,
They came to listen, believe His message, wherever He would go,
And every time I lose my faith, all my thoughts run wild,
The fear is taken from my heart, and I am carried by a child...

The powers that did not believe, had finally brought Him down,
And persecuted Him at trial, of thorns they made a crown,
Then marched Him under crucifix, atop a bloody rise,
But they saw forgiveness, and compassion shining from His eyes...

The mass of people watched, as he was placed upon the cross,
But stood in silence, fearful, for what the world had lost,
And when I think that all is gone, all my thoughts defiled,
I look down, and know that I am carried by a child...

They watched the scene in horror, as the rain began to fall,
A sudden rush of fear, left them alone and very small,
The sky was filled with deep, dark clouds, with but a patch of blue,
A voice that echoed said 'Forgive them, for they know not what they do, '

They took His body down, and placed a shroud upon His eyes,
He told them things that taught them, then He rose into the skies,
God's own son had been the man, the child they had known,
And on the wings of angels He had risen and had flown...

So when you're faith is shaken, and you try not to believe,
Let not you're heart be broken, and let you're mind not grieve,
Know that when you're faith and thoughts are lost, and running wild,
Relax your heart and know, you're being carried, by a child.
