I Will Not Bow Poem by Dashaun Rashod Snipes

I will not bow to the pressures around me
I will not let them bring me to my knees
I will stand tall, strong and proud
For I am not one to easily concede
They say I must follow the rules they set
But my heart yearns for something more
I refuse to conform, to blend in and forget
My uniqueness and the dreams I store
I will not bow to their narrow minds
Or the limitations they try to impose
I'll spread my wings and break the binds
For my spirit is wild and cannot be closed
They say I must fit inside their box
But I am a free spirit, I'll not be tamed
I'll dance to the beat of my own heart
My voice will not be silenced or shamed
I will not bow to their expectations
For they do not define who I am
I'll pave my own path, make my own creations
And embrace every step of the journey's span
I'll stand tall, with head held high
And walk my own unique way
For I refuse to conform or comply
I am me, and that's how I'll stay
So to those who try to bring me down
With your judgments, rules, and doubts
I will not bow, I'll wear my crown
For I am unbreakable, without a doubt.
