I wish i know,
About width of yonder sky;
The cold rains and showers of snow,
And I will tell you the large bay;
Of what the earth measures,
Its wideness, From sides to sides

I wish i know
where hides darkness at daylight
The stars, the gloamings, the glow
Then I will keep no secret of night;
I will tell you where hides sun's glares.
All about planets and their hidden places

I wish i know
Where comes the eldritch thunderbolts
That keeps coward and brave's head low
Trembling like little baby in his cot
Tell me when even the world began
Be kind and tell me if you can!


I wish I know,
What springs teardrops if thoughts are sod
What grows smiles when there's no sorrow
Tell me and I shall make you my god;
And cause both my friends and foes,
Deny their idols to worship none but you
