I Wish I Were Like You Poem by Josie Hartnett

I Wish I Were Like You

You can say what you want,
You say whats on your mind,
You defend yourself,
And others.
You tell the truth,
Hurt people,
Say what others think,
Your mouth gets you in trouble.
But still you say what you want.

Not I.
I sit still.
Quiet.
Saying nothing.
It's not my business.
I say nothing.
Ihide away.
I shouldn't stay.
I might think it,
But my mouth dosen't work.
I dont say what I think.
What I believe.
What I want.

I wish I,
Were more like you.
A big mouth.
Afraid of nothing.
Can talk aloud,
Unafraid.
Defend myself,
And my friends.
Tell the truth,
Yet try not to hurt people.
I wish i were like you.
Able to talk out
Talk about.
tell you what is going on.
But i can't.
And never will.
I am still afraid.
