I wish I was present at a time when you were near,
but life has its own way of taking us around the sphere;
To only find thyself, while passing through the pains we bear
And teaching us to make our minds clear.
Though making us wait year after year,
Only to finally bring me close to the one I can call, my dear.
I wish you were here, when I was near;
My mind quickly said to my heart, oh my dear!
Does it not take a storm for the sky to be clear?
This is no place for a tear.
Listen to the silent voice that's whispering behind your ear,
Your love my dear will move your lives in forward gear!
But will I ever be able to express my love for her without dread or fear?
Must I draw the courage to speak up
Or shall I take the easy route to bury my emotions along with the terrier?
I asked myself does she know me well enough? Or are her thoughts still unclear?
I started to think maybe I should come profess my love for you with all of my cavalier,
But I know you are the one who prefers the austere.
I was longing for you to hold this letter, my dear;
for you to feel the warmth of my hand,
Sense the rush of my gushing adrenaline with your touch,
But can one really ask time and distance to not interfere?
I can talk for hours about your spirit, your many beautiful qualities that I have come to endear.
However, time & tide wait for no man, once said a seer.
So the moment is here
For me to my manifest my love for you that has grown so severe,
To let you know that subconsciously I began to care about your career,
Yes milady, you have come to become the one person I truly revere!
I won't promise that with us together there will be no reason to fear,
Yet, I will assure you that I look forward to the time we both can pioneer.
With love for Jah, I hope we remain together,
Diurnally in prayer, both you and I persevere,
With time only drawing us ever closer to each other.
Holding on to that last sip of beer,
I told my little heart
I wish you don't have to hear
that word ‘No' for an answer.
Alas, I heard another voice behind my ear,
Steer Clear!
Save those wishes for the folklore;
I would rather prefer for the ‘Yes' to be her choice,
than my wish just so mere!
Now it would be rather doltish of me to ask you to shut your eyes and see me appear,
I'd rather hope these words reach your heart because it is sincere.
I give my word to cherish this fire of love I feel, and nourish, for it to never disappear.
And yet again, I wish you were here
I was near
and you could hear
me saying all so clear,
I love you, my dear!
