I Won't Cry Poem by Raymond Isaacs

I Won't Cry

I won't cry
Even though I am broken and sad.
I won't cry
Even though I gave you all I had.
I won't cry
Even if I'm numb and my body's dead.
I won't cry
Although I'm filled with sorrow and regret.

I won't cry
Although the tears are shallow in my eyes.
I won't cry
To take responsibility for your cheating and lies.
I won't cry
And please don't act as if you're surprised.
Don't ask why
Because what we had, never sufficed.

I'm giving up
There won't be one last try.
I'm giving up
Let's just say goodbye.
And if you wonder
I am more than fine.
As long as you remember
I promise I won't cry.
