I Wonder... Poem by Melam Tashi Tamang

Look at the hills over there,
Covered with evergreen forest,
Various species in it,
Will our grand children be able to see it? I doubt.

Look at the valleys over there,
Filled with industries producing carbon monoxide,
Various chemicals used in it,
Will it not cause destruction to our mother atmosphere?

Look at the people over there,
Cutting down the trees,
Making the animals to get extinct,
Will it not cause destruction to our mother nature?

Look at the men out there,
Throwing the wastes in river,
And polluting the mother water,
Will it not kill the species living in hydrosphere?

Why, why people don't understand,
Our mother Earth was given to us,
With utmost hope and respect by our forefathers,
Isn't this our duty to protect it now? I just wonder.

Why, why people don't care,
Our Earth's going to end if we keep on doing the same,
And there would be nobody to be blamed,
But we all know, we can prevent the world from ending.
