I Wore You Close To Me Poem by Dan Brown

I Wore You Close To Me

I wore you close to me today
intimately

closer still than the two of us
tied together and
tumbling
through my grainy minds-eye pictures

closer than the scars on my arm;
left behind as you tore my sleeve
and the heart I wore upon it.

closer even, perhaps, than that time
when we did that thing you don't like;
when I penetrated you
and entered you
into a relationship.

I wore you close to me today
intimately

a stripy rag with leg-holes
peepholes
through which we should have seen it coming.
