Ibe Poem by venessa ambrose

Ibe

1
Bounded by blood
We chanted noisily
In our sacred grounds
Raising praises
To immortal myth
Of friendship soil
Invoking unseen havoc
Of uncouth incantation
While masking fright

11
We took diverse paths
Watching the heavens
Place the shining star
In the land of choices
Clamoring in the present
With no glance to the older days
Day of reckoning
Days when the arrow of our past
Cremate the present

111
That day came
When the rivers sang
The thunder halt
To see the cloud blaze
That day came
Like the pain of midnight seduction
tears of a fallen maiden
Aftermath by day
Of the deeds by night

1111
Ibekaeme
Friendship of a decayed past
Strange oracles
Of once merry gods
Brought asunder
by the wind of change
Swept from parallel current
By tragedy's nuptial
Ibe
