Icarus Poem by Rahul Ram

Icarus

Icarus
My wings were broken
From my flight,
for love.
Love of someone,
I couldn't have.

My wings were broken
But i wanted to fly, again.
Foolish. Blind. Hopeful.

Love was the air
In my lungs
Hope was the wind
Behind my wings
Despair was the pain
In my veins

Wings of hope
Took me to the air
Before my scars were fully healed.

I flew again, nervously
To a height i haven't
Been to in a long time

And I fell, again.
Painful, but no more tears
Only a stone cold heart,
Shattered, once again.

Love was the air
In my lungs
Hope was the wind
Behind my wings
Despair is my destiny
For I am a conqueror of miseries.
Miseries, not love.
