Ice Cold Hands Poem by Katrina Olson

Ice Cold Hands

I’m going to sit in the rain

Wash all my tears away

The drops taking the pain

Why must I feel this way?

I feel my grip loosen

Reality slipping from my fingertips

Falling deeper in the darkness I’m in

Ice cold hands pull at my hips

The rain taking my hurt

Darkness closing in

The tears on my face leave scars that are burnt

My strand of life is getting thin

Ice cold hands pull once more

My body gives in

Fall short, never learning what life was for

Ice cold hands finally win

I sat in the rain

To wash all my tears away

I thought the drops would take the pain

I know why I felt that way

Meant to dwell in the ice cold land

When I was taken that day

The ice cold and I hand in hand

The day the rain took the pain away.
