If Poem by Matthew Long

If

'If'

If you say you’re not the right size for me,
I'll say 'Good things come in small packages.'
If you tell me I want someone pretty,
I'd tell you that you couldn't be more beautiful.

If you say I want someone that has saved herself,
I'll say “If we went through life wanting what is pure,
There wouldn't be that many successful marriages,
But if we saved all what we have left
I'm sure that the other person won't be disappointed.”

If you tell me you can't give me what I need,
I'll say you are exactly what I need.
If you ask me why I love you & why I care about you,
I'll tell you “Just because I do
But more importantly just because you're you.”
