If Poem by Leaking Pen

If

If I can not have you
Let me be the Asp that bit you to eternal goodnight.
Your breath forever mine
Finally I claim you as my queen.

If I were born to wealth, But I am not…
Or to power like Caesar and Mark Anthony.
Then let me be the last to call
Your name to eternity.

If I cannot be the beat in your heart
That keeps you alive and ignites love,
Or each waking breath of love desired
Then let me be your heartbeat in the afterlife.

If I can not be the thoughts in your mind
Where you dwell on the nature of love,
Then the devil in your nightmares shall suffice
As long as I am the centrifuge of your dreams.

If I can not be your eyes that see
The marvels of life that surround you,
Then let me be the light that guides your vision
As you walk in the world of conciseness.

Better still let me be the hidden eye of sleep
Where you dwell in the arms of lullaby
That serenades you my Dear to sleep
Brahms soul emits my poetry.

If I were to be the dream of your heaven
Like ripe strawberries dipped in Belgian chocolates
As you wander in the paradise of culinary
Let all heavenly delight trace their roots back to me.

If I surround your every step
Your morning, noon, evening and night
Your waking, sleeping even to the afterlife
Then I'll be the one at heaven's doors to escort you in.
