If Albert Will Take Me Poem by Bryce Miller

If Albert Will Take Me

If Albert will take me,
I want to show you where I was born,
and the fields I used to play in as a child.

If Albert will take me,
I want to show you the house I grew up in.
With my loving family who cared for me.

If Albert will take me,
I want to show you my loving wife,
and my two beautiful children who are still with me today.

If Albert will take me,
I want to show you where I used to put my feet in the sand,
and smile and twinkle my toes in it with my family.

If Albert will take me,
I want to show you where I fought for our country,
and lost my legs defending our freedom.

If Albert will take me,
I want to show the hospital they tried to save my legs in,
and how they had to amputate them to save my life.

If Albert will take me,
I want to show you where I got my first wheelchair,
and how hard it was for me to adjust to life again.

If only Albert would take me,
If only Albert would take me.
