If He Had Spoken Poem by Orbindu Ganga

If He Had Spoken

Hackneyed journey snags
No light, waned in the wind,
Each day assuages long
In hibernation, drowning in
The yestreen weather of no hope,
Many times the thoughts
Ricocheted, expecting a smile,
Only to be gleaned away,
Onlookers made their way
To have a glance, his eyes were
In the crowd, lost in the swarm,
Striving to guard
The soul from being lost, they
Looked deep into his eyes
To whisper the nuances,
With his eyes closed
She kissed his thoughts -
He was looking into the
River, seeing him again
After a long time,
Surprise
Hooked
In disbelief
He had lost the self! ! !

The periphery has
Lost the glean,
The elegance disappeared
Within the veneer,
The creamy layers
Were ingrained within him,
An attempt! ! !
An attempt! ! !
An attempt! ! !
Wailed from within in silence...

The oblivion self-realised
The years have doused
Without his dear ones,
Missing his wife
And daughters,
A small misunderstanding
Created the vacuum,
Lasting for many years
Without a word whispered,
Repentance layered deep
Within the crevices,
His reflections yearned
For answers, being within
Gave no traces of an aisle.

The crystalline river
Whispered more chants
In silence,
Equanimity suffused his breath
Seeing the lost, with tears,
Giving a surge of energy
To squirt the water in
The vacuum, to be replenished
With fresh zeal to touch
The lost.

He left her sans
A word, she paused
Long for his words,
Never did he come
To see her, loneliness
Consumed her.

Realising his mistakes
Wandered in search
For his loved ones,
Months later found in
The newspaper
Obituary, the last
He could do - To
Give them the final
Smile in tears.

He looks to the firmament
In tears, sighs in gratitude
To make him rekindle his
Thoughts again with a misted
Smile, words have been shunted
With remorse, he wished
He had spoken...
