If I Could Poem by Lance K...

If I Could

Lance Kepley

Just one moment alone
I wish I could be me
But around you it’ll never be
I don’t know why
I don’t want to be shy
Please let me show you the truth
The real me

If I could I would kiss you in the rain
Hold you tight, take away your pain
Love you true and always appreciate you
Call you beautiful when you don’t feel it
Be there for you when you’re sad or sick
Give you my jacket when you’re cold
Love you always even if we unfold
Hold your hand and give you my last breath
Love you always love you to death

Things go wrong, but I’ll never be gone
Even if we scream and fight it won’t last for long
I would give you my life and soul
To keep you safe and whole
I would give you my shoulder to cry on
And cry whenever you’re gone
Because every second to me
Is an hour without my baby

I want to laugh with you be with you
Help you when you’re stuck
Because when I’m with you there’s nothing I can’t do
Just being able to see you is luck
I want to lie on the couch and watch a flick
Or lie outside to gaze at the stars
Together watching as we get a kick
Your head on my chest hearing the beating of my heart

If I could I would help you achieve your goals
Play with you and mess up your hair
Even though you make it seem like I wouldn’t dare
I would do my all to make you feel tall
If you give me the chance I would
Not if I could.
