If I Could Remember Poem by Marvi Gil

If I Could Remember

how your smile
sifted through
pregnant silences

the way your hands unfurled
twin kites poised
for battle

that last sigh
strangely sonorous
in an empty room

if i could remember
how you were
before walking away
into the relief of darkness
