If I Ever Learn To Pray Poem by Mike Kosman

If I Ever Learn To Pray

Loving you The way I do
Is tearing at my heart
Trying to be your daddy
When we're so far apart
But the miles that lie between us
Ain't what's heavy on my brain
A couple hundred miles can't kill my love
But my love can't kill the pain

There's good and bad in everything
Guess it's got to be that way
To start a new tomorrow
You say good bye to yesterday
But there's nothing wrong in saving
A sweet memory or two
And your sweet memories are here with me
And I know mine are there with you

So I'm saying from the heart of me
Youi'll always be a part of me
And I hope someday you'll come to know
How much your daddy cares
You're in my fond remembering
And you're always in the songs I sing
And if I ever learn to pray
You'll be in my prayers
