If I Were A Bird Poem by Krisztian Fercsek

If I Were A Bird

If I were a bird on wings so light,
I'd drift on the breeze in effortless flight.
High up above, where the heavens gleam blue,
I'd revel in gales that the skies ever drew.
Below lies the boredom, the trouble, the care,
But above, freedom sings through the sweet, open air.
Over mountains and valleys I'd soar on my way,
To see all the beauty the earth hides away.
My nest in a tree, like a bed on a bough,
With a kiss from my beak, I'd soothe every vow.
I'd sing of the moon, of the sun and the stars,
With peace in my heart, far from worldly scars.
But a bird I am not, I merely dream,
Treading the earth by a narrower stream.
The longing remains, as thoughts take to flight,
While I strive to set all my troubles aright.
