If Only Poem by JDsmooth Harris

If Only

All the souls in this room and I only see you. The music changes paces as the DJ calls for all of the lovers in the building to grab each other by the hand and sway in the center of the dance floor. We locked eyes for a moment as if he was specifically speaking to us. Me and you.

Lovers? if only in my wildest of dreams. I reach for the thought, of me that lives in you that only out two hearts can find.

Hypnotized by the beat, were attracted to each other like opposing forces,

Two atoms seeking life in each others cells.

Arms gently used as weapons, I smother you and you do the same to me, love songs we made for me and you.

We glide to the center of the room.

Me and you.

Cracking tiny smiles like giggling children but you have no clue why I'm actually smiling.

I can touch you with my heart and make everything feel alright.

Maybe because I am making amends with the fact that this will never happen again.

Me and you.

So hold me tighter, I won't to hear and feel the reposition of my joints and the cries of my spinal cord. I want to feel you.

Bouncing to the ballad that perfectly illustrates how I feel about you.

And your eyes say things I never hear from you.

Let me, ease away your fears and elevate you into a world of our own,

Allow me, the pleasure of gripping your hips as I lose grip on reality,

Hold me, if only for one night, and don't let go.

I'm glad you didn't feel that, the single tear dropp that escaped my eyes onto your beautiful dress,

Because all I can do is try to hold on to this feeling knowing that time stands still for no man.

You look absolutely gorgeous tonight,

I'm standing mere breathes away from an angel that landed just long enough for me to lead in a slow dance.

Let me take you home, to ensure you're safe and warm through the shadows of the night.

My fixation with what lies below your beautiful garments grows deep.

Undressing you slowly, so that I can physically see every inch of your soft skin exposed. I don't want to miss a fraction of a piece of your flesh.

Keep the lights on so I can see.

So I can remember.

Loving you until I can feel the warmth of the suns rays on my back.

You and me.

One night just isn't long enough.
