If Only I Could Tell You Poem by Mark Hopwood

If Only I Could Tell You

If only you knew
What scratches behind my eyes
If only you could see
Why I can't hold this disguise, these lies.
If only I could show you
Who I could really be
If only I could tell you
I'd be nearer to being free.
If only you knew
Why everything hurts so much
If only you could see
Why I need to feel and touch
If only I could show you
What I need to show to be me
If only I could tell you
I wish I could make you see.

If only you knew
What chews away at my brain
If only you could see
That I'm not really insane
If only I could show you
What is wrong with me
If only I could tell you
But I Guess I'm scared you'll see
If I could only tell you.
