If Only They Knew Poem by maria goodison

If Only They Knew

Good morning?
Good day?
if only they knew that to day was a very bad day.
How are you?
Keeping well?
Gets flung at me as they don't know that things are
gathered in side my head.
If only they knew the death that my mind can grow
where no one cares and no one knows.
We should meet for lunch?
is now deemed as a fret and a slap across my face
my head has cartoon drawings of me with a shotgun and
things.
I have to fake this smile, walk tall even tho I have vision of
Poison theirs bread and stake or even using a special voodoo
doll.
Then from out of the blue that one person sits next to me that know
me and understands the madness that is my head.
They don't say a thing just sits and put a Starbucks coffee in my
hands, with a whisper of air, (It's one of them days is it.?)
