If She Loved Me Poem by Steve Wexler

If She Loved Me

I would terrify tigers
And battle with bears,
Taunt bulls with muletas,
Tame lions with chairs;
All this I would do
And all this I could be
If she loved me.

But since she doesn't care,
These feats must remain
Impossible plans
In my little brain,
Just the shred of a dream
Of what I could be
If she loved me.

I could be a giant,
Though now I am an elf.
But she cannot love me
If I don't love myself.
So I'll tackle those tigers
Those lions and bears
As if she loved me.

With her love to guide me
And others beside
I'll be what I could be
Had she been my bride.
A land strewn with tigers
And lions will show
Who I became
And how I did grow.
Though I always will wonder
What more I might be
If she loved me.
