If Tears Could Fall Poem by william hatten

If Tears Could Fall

If tears could fall
I would drown in the salty ecstasy
Only to swim to the bottom
And anchor my soul to the jetsam

If dreams could rise
I would climb to the pinnacle
If only to gaze at heaven
Before diving into the abyss

If the past could reclaim
I would travel back through hell
Merely to live in misery
And treasure every second

If eyes could imagine
I would rip them out
Casting them into oblivion
Anxious to retrieve their battered lenses

If my mind could fathom
I would peel it back
Devouring each last morsel
Regurgitating with abandon

If life was relevant
I would act accordingly
Yet madness rules and I choose to be
Lost in your love
