If There Was A Place Poem by Charlie Bain

If There Was A Place

Rating: 4.5

If there was a place
Where we could be alone
A hidden place
Not too far from home
I'd take you there
A gift for you grand
By hugging you at last
And holding your hand

If there was a place
Where we could see the sky
Lay together in the field
Watch the clouds roll by
I'd take you there
I'd look at your eyes
And give you a gift
By not being shy

If there was a place
Where we could run free
Together hand in hand
Just you and me
I'd take you there
And take you by storm
By pressing to your mouth
My own lips so warm

If there was a place
Where we could escape
The terrors and tortures
Of every face and shape
I'd take you there
And save you from harm
And you'd fall for me
And my sweet southern charm

But there is no place
Where the wildflowers grow
That has only summer
No cold winter snow
And I cannot kiss you
Or let my feelings show
For I am too timid
Even more that you know

But there is no place
Where we could be alone
Or at least none exist
That I've ever been shown
And you could never love me
For I am so strange
That's how it's always been
And that will not change

But there is no place
Where I'd hold your hand
For I have many secrets
You'd never understand
You could never hold me
Knowing I'm a witch
Or sew my broken heart together
With love in every stitch

But there is not a place
Where the trees are so dense
That it could hide us behind it
Like a stonewall fence
And you'd never understand
The reasons I can't trust
So I suppose I'll ever have
Is not love, but lust.
