If These Walls Could Talk

If these walls could talk,
If the land could walk,
I’d see the city as it was,
If the eyes of the sea,
Could look back at me,
I’d know where I belong,
If the stars could shine,
Could I find,
What I was searching for,
If the scar in my life,
Would fade or just cause strife,
Would people see me differently,
When a light in the dark,
Seems to leave a mark,
Will the sun be too bright,
When the sky starts a fight,
Like a million people I’ve found,
In the crowds up above,
With the white dove,
Does it deserve such hate,
Cause if these walls could talk,
We’d know of it,
Of the love there once was,
Of the unity across the land,
If these walls could talk,
They’d be the first to smile.

So whispered it in my ear,
Tell me how to hear,
Tell me what the walls have said,
Would tell if they could talk,
If we could scream languages,
To understand each other,
For we were separated into what seemed millions,
Never quite the same,
But is not that how we were created,
For to destroy such hate and confusion,
But if it seemed accepted,
To a certain degree,
The hate became stronger and greedier to me,
Will what people dismiss with their eyes,
Turn back up when we ask those so far,
Locked into judgment of ourselves,
With one star in the night,
If we could see heaven,
We’d be blinded beyond image,
But we pass by these wonders,
Without a glance, without a lost heartbeat,
But if these walls could talk,
They’d be the first to cry,
…and accept.
