If Tomorrow Comes Poem by Patricia-Shine Edoze

If Tomorrow Comes

for the ones who wait in quiet hope

I'm thinking about tomorrow—
a door not yet built,
a sky not yet lit.
I don't know what it holds—
joy, silence, or storm—
and I don't know if I should
greet it with open arms
or a guarded heart.

I don't know if it will come at all,
if the sun will rise gently,
or stay curled beneath the dark.
But if it does—
if I wake, and breathe, and stand,
if it presses its light against my window,
then I pray:

let it be kind,
let it be slow,
let it bring something worth breathing for.
Not perfect. Just kind.
Just enough.
