If Yesterday Was Today Poem by Tammi Celina Lyons

If Yesterday Was Today

The moon is beaming down on me,
Wishing and hoping you're doing the same.
The stars scattered in the night sky,
Reminds me how many tears I cry
I don't want to say goodbye,
Not this time.

Will you ever look at me again?
Or even look at me the same.
My tears streaming down my pale cheeks,
And life feels like it is giving up on me.
I'm sorry.
This time and in this moment
I feel so weak without you.
Why did I see you go?

If yesterday was today,
I would have said no
And still be here with you.
But my regret still lingers here
Telling me what I did to you.
If today I had the chance
I would tell you,
'You mean the world to me.'

The sun shines so bright
That your eyes sparkles in the light.
The smile on your face
Looks so perfect in place,
But when I look at you now,
All I see is hurt.

If I could fix us I would start with me.
I wish and hope you will
One day forgive me.
You're the reason why I live each day.
My heart burns with guilt and shame
And I regret what I did,
I am to blame.

If yesterday was today,
I would have said no
And still be here with you.
But my regret still lingers here
Telling me what I did to you.
if today I had the chance
I would tell you,
'You mean the world to me.'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I did something horrible to my best friend and I've been depressed. I wanted to write down my feelings for her, hoping she will forgive me someday. I dedicate it to my best friend.
