If You Are Still Listening Poem by Audrey Marie Kay

If You Are Still Listening

Rating: 5.0

I wonder if anyone heard my calls for help
my silent voice inside my head
asking if anyone cared to notice
but then i wonder.. did they see
could they have figured it out
that maybe I'm not the face i put on
(please don't stop reading, i know its long)
maybe i needed someone to listen
i want them to listen
i don't need them to talk
or rant on about right vs. wrong
i just need a normal human
willing to give me at least a minute
i know people are busy but..
its a minute.. that's all i ask
i just need someone to listen
can you see me
without my stone cut smile on
have you figured me out yet
tell me when you do..
but i guess for right now,
all i ask is that you listen
don't give me advice
or talk about God
just hear me out..
I'm not perfect.
i wasn't born perfect
the world is harsh
it doesn't care what hurts
it does not discriminate
the greater good stands unstable
its like a gamble for happy and sad
and I'm the one who got the short stick
the sad stick.. the poor lonely stick
this world has cut me down
brought lies through its wind
and now i don't know who i am
or what to do
is it so much to ask
one break.. just one
this is my plea for mercy
I'm not asking for sympathy..
i just need another heart
i want to hear it beat
so i know I'm still living
because I'm not so sure anymore
I'm ranting on about nothing
and you probably stopped reading at line 7
but.. if you're still here...
if you're listening..
thank you.
