If You Read This Poem by Johnson Barnaby

If You Read This

Then you will be taken on an adventure
That goes nowhere
(Or rather, back-again)
A boat
That floats upside-down
On the shining scintillating film
Of the bottom of the top of the water.

Swept away
To some-mans-land
Though you don't know who's.
And you'll find out
What you have to lose
Beneath the crashing white caps.

Funneled down
Through the spiraling whirlpool
To the green and the blue
And the shiny black
And then come back
Up, with increasing momentum
Exhilarating, accelerating
Till you splash up and out
Into the fresh colorful world
That is life.
