If You Want To Hold Me Poem by Matty Reynolds

If You Want To Hold Me

Rating: 5.0

If you want to hold me,
Then hold me today
And every day after that.
If you love me,
Then show me.
Show me today
And every day after that.
You make mistakes,
And you regret things,
And you grow old with me.
That's what love is.
Come home with me.
Lie under me.
Be me; and I in turn
Will be you...
Be us.
I would rather be home.

Be me, with you!
Than this other thing that we are.
This other love that we are.
These other lovers we have.
Do you know,
How many nights I lay awake
Clinging to you in your bedroom?
Afraid to sleep,
Just looking at you.
Thank you.
Thank you for the love,
Oh the love...
Someone so small bringing
The beast to her feet-
With such love.
What a miracle it is to be you!
What a treasure to be your heart!
I have always wondered what I
Had done, just to be in a room with you.
Just to be in a hallway,
Just to see a glance-
Then look away.
I still do...
Being beside you is the
Only place I have been right,
The only place I have been proud of...
The only niche I've fit.
Or filled.
Fill me.
Fill me O' Lord
Fill me.
