I'm Just Happy I'm Not You Poem by Mark. A Heathcote

I'm Just Happy I'm Not You

You must be laughing
Or dying to feel alive
I'm just happy I'm not you
Always looking over your shoulder
In changing weather

There's always a storm or two
There's nothing new
I'm just happy I'm not you
I'd rather sleep in the morgue
And avoid disappointment every day

You know I like to walk in the park
Do things simply
Listen to the dog's bark
And not take heed
That someone got to bleed every day

You must be laughing now
Oh, yet I see a tear or two
You've been in a dilemma about what to do
But isn't that the truth at least
Just about every moment for the past few years.

There's always a storm or two
There's nothing new
I'm just happy I'm not you
I'd rather sleep in the morgue
And avoid disappointment every day

There's not a creature on earth
Wants to make its bed in hell
And sleep in a soiled bed
Sit around doing nothing for days
Where's your dignity? Why aren't you dead?

Aren't you tired of crying
Hanging on to shadows
Pretending every movement is sunshine and rainbows
Or lightning and thunder
Darling, is there no balance with you?

You must be laughing
Or dying to feel alive
I'm just happy I'm not you
Always looking over your shoulder
In changing weather.
