Imagery Poems -5

1. Light and Shadow
Light spills over the cracked wall,
Shadow bends to follow;
Neither claims the other's space,
Yet both define tomorrow.
The sun leans into evening's hand,
Dark folds around the day;
Life is written in the margin
Where shadow learns to stay.
2. Chains and Cages
Chains rattle softly in the mind,
Invisible to eyes;
Cages hold no birds at all—
But hearts behind them lie.
Freedom waits on trembling keys,
Patience carved in bone;
We lock ourselves in silent rooms
And call the place our own.
3. Doors and Windows
Doors close with a careful click,
Windows frame the sky;
Some paths lead to open rooms,
Some let the past slip by.
The handle waits for courage still,
The glass reflects a choice;
Every threshold hums with life
And asks the quiet voice.
4. Mirrors and Reflections
Mirrors multiply the self,
Each image slightly wrong;
Reflections bend what we perceive
Until the truth feels long.
Yet in the polished glass we meet
The face we cannot flee;
A world of doubles stares at us
And asks what we could be.
5. Birds in Flight
Wings cut the blue with fleeting sound,
A shadow hovers then is gone;
Birds write freedom in the air
Where none can walk upon.
We watch their arcs and envy hearts
That know no single cage;
Flight teaches what the ground forgets,
Its own unbroken page.
6. Water and Thirst
Water gleams beyond my hand,
Elusive in the sun;
I chase the liquid promise still
Though thirst cannot be won.
Rivers curve like whispered lies,
Springs vanish into stone;
Desire flows in every vein,
But only thirst is known.
7. Roads and Crossroads
The road splits under weary feet,
Each path a silent plea;
Crossroads hold the weight of choice
And all that could not be.
Signs point everywhere and none,
Horizon folds its hand;
Life waits in every turning step
Before the final stand.
8. Masks and Faces
Masks hang loose upon the wall,
Faces hidden, shown;
Every smile conceals a story
No one will ever own.
We speak in borrowed shapes and eyes,
Our truths in shadowed light;
The face we wear becomes the face
We keep beyond the night.
