Imaginary Guy Poem by Sarah Holmes

Imaginary Guy

There’s so many things that I’d like to do,
If I got to have a moment with you.
We’d watch the sunset or catch a show,
Then it would be time for me to go home.
But it’s just pretend.

So many things in my life have gone wrong,
But you’ve always been there to help me along.
We’d walk in the park or talk on the phone,
Then it would be time for me to go home.
But it’s just pretend.

You’ve had all my friends and now you want me,
But you know every mistake and why you became free.
You used to tell me it would be alright,
And then it would be times for me to say good night.
But it’s just pretend.

You never liked me before so why do you now,
I’ll get to the bottom of this somehow.
We will talk things over and you may sigh,
When I have to tell you this is goodbye.
Because it’s just pretend.
