Imagine Me Poem by Reginald Goodridge

Imagine Me

I've got a good imagination
it talks to itself
oozes weird creations
like nobody else

but imagine if
I wasn't this free
or working in
somebody's company

or even worse
I didn't have friends
to inspire my heart
and feel closer than kin

I couldn't accept
not being surrounded
by beautiful people
yet fixed and grounded

oh God forbid
If I couldn't love
to be drown in its presence
or inject its drug

and worst of all
to imagine and heed
if God didn't grant me
the most beautiful seed

a fine baby girl
with her mother's eyes
her daddy's fire
for intellectual whys

I imagine a lot
I imagine me
I imagine her
time will tell, we'll see
