Impassive Rivers! Poem by Namratha Swamy

Impassive Rivers!

Today as I drift down the impassive rivers,

I no longer feel pulled by the tethers.

Testing the whirling waters I slither

through life's furious heart breakers!

Faster than a child during playful hour

I run, and as I run, my shriveled life spurs

and never having heard a more triumphant clamour

the tempests blesses my life-borne arousals!

As I bathe in love under the gleams of fire

fermented by the briny redness of my desire,

lighter than a shive I dance those waves

without searching for the lighted bays.

Though I shiver in the dreamy nights of blinded snows

and get drenched in the rain's unheard-of woes,

infused by the stars my thoughts blends

where the drowned man in dream ascends.

I've seen great marriages boil and hiss

with indifference shoving the hearts into the abyss

so I touch upon life's blue and pink awakenings

for years on end I've followed its proceedings!
