Silent aching vastness
Wind caressing. Always blowing by. Softly
Impossible blue sky arching overhead
Heat pressing. Hard and dry
Viewing from the edge
Is looking down into Agency Creek basin
Ground level crickets chirping
Viewing from the edge is a look into forever
Drawing me back up to big sky
And imagining what this pass was like
Back in the day
When two million miles of unknown
Surrounded Lewis and Clark
