In A Library Poem by Hafiz ALi

In A Library

Whenever I enter a library
I am drowned in a strange feeling
Feeling of awe and wonder
Sadness and happiness
Pleasure and pain.
A feeling so intense
That I could not restrain
but exclaim with a sigh.
Because I see a scene
Serene and full of beauty
Calm;
Filled with a strange light
Casting beautifull shadows;
In a place
Out of time and space
I see people
People from all nations
Enthralled in a strange dance.
Greeks, Chinese and Arabs,
Hindus and Europeans,
All in harmony.
Each doing his part
Each in a separate stance
All in a holy pose
All in a different trance
But unified through a dance
So holy and devine
So pure and beautiful
That my eyes are filled with tears;
which I could not control
and could not restore
But I could see
Nations after nations
Helping eachother
Build,
The Great Pyramid of knowledge
And yet when I see
Wars and destruction
Angry mobs of hungry people
Greedy men
Tyrants and corrupts
I wonder at the nature of man
