In A Perfect World You Would Have Been Mine Poem by ART PAUL SCHLOSSER

In A Perfect World You Would Have Been Mine

There are many reasons it would not work out
One of them was my doubt
Very much it is also true
I should have reached out more to you
But I was never quit ever sure
You also never made it quit clear
So if I broke your heart I am sad
But I'm so old I could be your Dad
Ending up in a foreign country
Never seem to be my kind of honey
My regret is I'm not as young as thee
I don't let my passions run free
So unless someone persistently pursues me
I doubt I'll be able ever again marry
But I really do wish I could find someone young
I also wish I had a top 40 hit from a song I sung
I also have so many other wishes it's hard to tell
Which direction to run that would go well
So some dreams I have to let go like the setting sun
I'm only one so I can't do all the things I wish to do for fun
But In a perfect world I would have broken all the romantic rules
And I would have loved you truer then true
