In Between Realms Of Poetry Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

In Between Realms Of Poetry

In between swathes of poetic marvels
A barrage of senseless deaths were announced
In between the purified veil of consciousness
Death visited my compatriots in drones
In between the realms of poetry
I stand naked of my muse
My heart flooded by sorrow
In between the lines of refined poetry
I am a victim of a ferocious pandemic
That stole all of my heart's belongings
Leaving me with a dimmed beacon of hope
In between the nights and days
I am a pebble on life's shore
I have no way of knowing my future's whereabouts
The illusions of a better life
Replaced by a disillusioned mind
There is no end to this broken heartedness
As long as the monster is still out there
Rampaging the corridors of my mental framework
Vandalizing the pedestal of hope
In between the solid rays of hope
I see the punctured spirit of togetherness
In between the semblance of peace
A savage storm is hiding its path of destruction
In between the excitement of the Olympics
A predator roams the canopy of our minds
Covid-19 pandemic is breaking all the rules
Infecting and killing our beloved friends and family
In between hope and hopelessness
A war for vaccines is waged
The "haves" and "have not" are pitted against each other
